Packing Tips
Pack smartly, whether you're towing your belongings yourself or using our convenient Ship to School service.
Boxes:
-Evenly allocate weight among boxes. For example, divide your books among several boxes, rather than having one very heavy book box. Carrying them will be easier and if you ship them, you won't incur additional fees for overweight packages.
-Put heavier items at the bottom. This increases stability by making your box bottom-heavy and reduces the chance of breakage (heavier items won't crash into more fragile ones).
-Seal all edges thoroughly. We suggest going over each corner two or three times with packing tape, to increase the box's sturdiness and reduce the chance of the contents falling out.
Fragile Items and Electronics:
-If you are bringing/shipping electronics or fragile items, we recommend putting them in their original packaging and then into a box, or insulating them with soft material: pillows, blankets, comforters, packing peanuts or newspaper.
Labeling:
-Clearly label your items so you know which boxes contain which items. That way you can plan your unpacking strategy like a pro! If you're shipping items using our Ship to School service so they are in your room when you arrive to campus, be sure to securely tape the supplied labels to your box.
